DATA FOR 2010 (standard replenishment)

Project 971 "Bars" / "Pike-B" - AKULA
Project 971 "Irbis" - Improved AKULA
Project 971 “ Akula-II”
Project 971/Project 971M (K-335) - Akula-III

Multipurpose nuclear submarine. Designing a boat launched by tactical and technical requirements, development of a large multipurpose nuclear submarine of the 3rd generation "in the SDB-143" Malachite "(1972). Draft pr.971 PLA as a whole was completed in 1977, but after receiving information about the type of PLA modernization of the U.S. Los-Angeles and taking into account the wishes of the leadership of the Navy to equip a boat cruise missiles sent to the finalization of the project (completed in 1980). The head of PLA K-284 Akula founded on shipyard Lenin Komsomol Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the end of 1980 in February 1984 completed assembly of the pressure hull of the boat and July 16, 1984 K-284 is derived from the shop in floating dock and launched on July 27, 1984 In the autumn of that year PLA entered the harbor of the plant in the town of Bolshoi Kamen. Factory tests began on Dec. 7, 1984 and officially submarine K-284 commissioned to the Navy on Dec. 30, 1984 After the Navy boat started to long-term operational development of the equipment and test all systems. The first launches of cruise missiles Granat made only in January 1987, and hydro-acoustic complex and a portion of weapon systems fine-tuned for even longer, and put into operation only in 1988 Series pr.971 boats built at plants in Komsomolsk-on-Amur and in Severodvinsk. According to initial plans were plans to build 25 boats, but all was laid on 20 PLA.

Design: Development of PLA pr.971 started SKB-143 "Malachite" (Leningrad, chief designer GN Chernyshev, from August 1976, after 1997 - YI Farafontov) on TTZ 1972 " development of a large multi-purpose nuclear submarine 3rd Generation "as an analogue of PLA pr.945 replacement in the design of titanium alloy steel. The project is elaboration of pr.958. A brief sketch of the project developed in 1976 in the development of technical project on which work has begun on the joint decision of SMEs and the Navy on July 27, 1976, attended CSRI them. Academician AN Krylov (especially in reducing the noise PLA).

Technical design boats designed in May 1977 and approved September 13, 1977, but after receiving information about news in the American type of PLA Los-Angeles, which was reflected in the installation of the CEO with a digital signal processing, mitigates the effects of intrinsic noise of the PLA, as well as with the wishes of the leadership of the Navy to equip PLA KRBD Granat (Resolution of the USSR Council of 26 May 1978) draft finalized (in 1980).

Production: Pre-production series boats pr.971 at shipyard in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (plant number 199) was conducted from 1978 to the Home of PLA-284:
- Founded in late 1980
- First block of the equipment installed in the pressure hull in June 1983
- Mortgage-board set Nov. 6, 1983
- The official date of the bookmark was listed on Nov. 11, 1983
- Build a durable housing completed in February 1984
- Submarine K-284 is derived from the shop in floating dock July 16, 1984
- Boat launched on a floating dock July 27, 1984
- Entered the harbor plant p.Bolshoy Stone October 25, 1984

Tests and adoption. Factory tests of K-284 began on Dec. 7, 1984 and officially submarine K-284 commissioned to the Navy on Dec. 30, 1984 after which, based in p.Bolshoy Stone proceeded to improving the equipment and testing systems. The first launch KRBD Granat - January 1987, SAC and some weapons systems fine-tuned and put into operation in 1988, the first dive on the maximum depth was held July 1, 1989, testing of all systems of PLA completed only in 1990, PLA pr.971 built at plants in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (plant number 199, from 1983 to present) and in Severodvinsk (Sevmash - Plant ¹ 402, from 1985 to 2001) and the initial plans planned to build 25 PLA (PLA was laid on 20). By default, the data PLA pr.971.

Crew - 73 people (including 33 officers)

The design of the submarine - double-hulled, coarse tail fairing with towed antenna CEO at the top of the vertical rudder. Rugged housing made of steel grade AK (AK-25 and / or the AK-32) with a yield of 100 kg per square millimeter (thickness of 48 mm, processed in presses FUJICAR) and divided into 7 compartments. At the design stage the problem was solved a significant (approximately 5 times compared with the PLA 2 nd generation) to reduce noise using elaborations silencer PLA pr.991. Assembling the Corps completed the block method: PLA equipment is installed inside the casing and shock absorber in ammortizatsionnyh blocks that are part of two-stage obschekonstruktsionnoy depreciation is foreseen (each block is isolated from the body of rubber-cord pneumatic shock absorber). The body is covered with a rubber protivogidroakusticheskim PLA coating. According to some reports using active means to reduce noise. At the PLA Improved conditions the crew.

Since the PLA K-391 powder generators installed blow-tsictern main ballast. Since PLA K-391 is installed on PLA outboard fittings circulation routes such as "fin" - a form of intake is flat in cross section instead of circular. According to some information on PLA pr.971 uses a system of impact on the boundary layer washer body of water to reduce resistance, which probably worked to Ship model submarine pr.1710 "mackerel" (no confirmation).
